It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the newly appointed Principal of G. Austin Schoenly School. As I enter into this new venture, I am extremely grateful for the hard work and accomplishments of Nancy Torchiano over the past two years as Schoenly’s leader. She has made a lasting impression on our entire school community, and I wish her well in her new role as the Principal of Appleby School.
While I am new to this position, I am not new to the Spotswood and Helmetta communities. I have been fortunate to be employed by the Spotswood Public Schools since 2009. As a teacher, I taught fifth grade, fourth grade, special education, and gifted and talented education. For the past three years, I have worked as the Department Chair of Art, Music, and World Languages for the district.
To my new role as principal, I bring with me a deep passion for elementary education. There’s something about a young child’s sense of wonder and discovery that inspires me year after year. As an educator, my mission has always been to make my students fall in love with learning. Now, I look forward to continuing this mission with each young learner that walks through Schoenly’s doors.
As a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Research indicates that when parents, teachers, and staff members collaborate, student success is optimized. I invite you to be an active participant in your child’s education. From the Spotswood PTA to classroom volunteers, you are an integral part of our educational community.
I look forward to meeting you and your child!
